Words of the Day 7th March 2022

I'm (re)learning French by studying L222 with the OU and also I use the DuoLingo app for everyday French.  I struggle with speaking French, but my reading is starting to slowly improve.  To date I've been keeping notes on my progress in French in a book, but now I'm also going to consider documenting it on-line.

Useful words and phrases that I've learned today:

disponibles => available

L'usine => factory

L'énergie solaire => solar energy

Useful words and phrases that I already know, but it's useful to remember and make use of:

assez => enough

ainsi que => as well as

Often use "de" in a negative, "du/de la" in positive singular and "des" in positive plural.  They aren't opposites and it's wrong therefore, but in practice these tend to be more useful:

Je mange de la soup.  Il ne mange pas de soupe.

Je n'ai pas de pommes de terres.  Je doit acheter des pommes de terres.
